LET’S CAMP AND THE TEAM BEHIND IT

The Thusgård Poulsen family

We are a family that lives and breathes camping – and over the years we have made the dream of running campsites a reality.

It all started in 2011 when we bought Toftum Bjerge Camping. Here we quickly realized that camping is not only about pitches and facilities, but also about people, community and good experiences.

In 2019, we took another step when we took over Glyngøre Camping, which we now run together with our youngest son, Jakob. He is also an usher at all three sites and an invaluable help in everyday life.

Most recently, in 2024, the family expanded with Himmerland Camping, which our eldest daughter Maja runs with her husband, David. Our second oldest daughter Sara is responsible for the daily operations at Toftum Bjerge Camping with his girlfriend, Thomas – and thus the baton has naturally been passed on to the next generation.

Also our second youngest son, Jeppe and his girlfriend, Cecilie, have chosen to become self-employed – but in a slightly different direction. Today, he runs a hotel in Nykøbing Mors.

All our campsites are located in the beautiful Limfjord area, where we were born and grew up. The fjord, nature and local communities mean a lot to us – and we are proud to welcome guests here, where our own roots are deeply rooted.

For us, camping is much more than a vacation – it’s a lifestyle. We love creating the perfect setting for families, couples and friends to make memories together. The fact that we can do this across three different sites, and as a whole family, makes it even more meaningful.

When you visit one of our campsites, we hope you feel the heart, history and community behind it.

Our story – Sara and Thomas

We’re Sara and Thomas, and camping isn’t just our job – it’s part of our lives and our family history.

Sara grew up on her parents’ campsite. Although her childhood was full of fond memories, for many years she was convinced that she wouldn’t own a campsite as an adult. She wanted to forge her own path and try something different.

When she later met Thomas and they had their daughter Lily in 2024, things began to change. Family became the most important thing for both of them, and Sara realized how much her upbringing had meant: closeness, strong relationships and a place where you always felt at home. All of which she now wants to pass on to Lily.

When we were offered the opportunity to take over the running of Toftum Bjerge Camping, we jumped at it – even if it meant moving back to Sara’s childhood home. It felt like returning home, but at the same time creating something completely new. A place where past memories and future dreams meet.

Thomas is training to become a carpenter. He loves his craft, but he also shares Sara’s dream of one day running a campsite together. The idea of a joint project where family, work and everyday life go hand in hand appeals to him deeply.

As a family, we love being together, making memories and making space for guests and each other. For us, the dream of a campsite is not just a job. It’s a way to shape our future – together, as the little family we are, of which Lily is now a central part.
